6th June 1984. just 3 days before the Talibani act of Indira Gandhi (Talibani because they also destroyed the Bamiyan Budhist heritage place in mindless shooting just because it belongs to another religion) I visited Golden temple to pay obeisance as i was flying back next day to Germany. The scenario there was not good- because all over Gun totting young boys were looking at you with penetrating eyes. Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale was not doing any service to the Sikh Panth by siege of Golden Temple and scaring people. Siks panth is created to defend the helpless and fight tyrants and injustice and not to hide behind the walls of most sacred place to defend your own fundas. whatever lead to that situation is another story altogether but it does not give any right to Indian Army and Indira Gandhi to attack the most revered place on earth for Sikhs and that to without vacating the place of innocent pilgrims. it is estimated that in this operation blue star thousands of pilgrims who had gathered to pay obeisance for Shahidi Gurpurab of Guru Arjun devji were martyred and their bodies were taken at night and burnt at some army camp. This was another shameful act by the Indian Army because no record of the dead was made to hide the heinous crime. Another shameful act was to carry away all historic documents from golden temple library and that were never returned. In your own country by your own government and Army a minority doesn't feel safe isn't it a shameful act that could be compared to Taliban. Anyways I felt like sharing it with others because it still troubles me a lot that why Army generals didn't protest? Why Indian media tried to subdue it? Why Indian Public at large didn't see the sinister side of Indira Gandhi and helped the Congress to perpetuate another crime after the murder of a tyrant and a bully. If our public was mature enough to see the sinister side of operation blue star lot of innocent lives could have been saved on the bloody day of October '84 and if the Indian media could play the neutral role justice could be prevailed to the innocent victims of 1984 Sikh genocide.
