Inner Strength - 9

Guru Nanak travelled for more than 47000 miles and spent his youth for learning and bringing his revolutionary ideas to change the almost dying Hindu society that was in grip of Islamic invaders, living in downtrodden conditions without self respect, confidence and courage to fight back to better their lot. His conclusion was that the main reason for this condition of Hindus was their belief in superstitions, blind faith, fear of unknown tragedies that can fall upon them if they don't do things as told by the Pundit. In this program of Pundit the time, dates and particular days when moon changes its position in the lunar system where of significance. For example the cure for the day when moon changes its position we call it massya or amawas if one takes a holy dip in some holy water the evil effect of that black night could be waned. Guru Nanak spoke against all such nonsense and said that the Karta Purukh has not made any distinctions in the creation of days, planets their movement or for that case all his creation of universe. How can be one day good and the other evil? From this belief of Hindus of distinction in the nature's creation Guru Nanak's followers- Sikh were supposed to be emancipated. May be you have noticed that on amawas the bus loads of people, sometimes sitting on the roof top of buses or hanging on the doors head for taking a dip in the holy waters of Sarovars of big Gurudwaras. Why are we still clinging to the superstitious beliefs when we are suppose to shed our past? Is it commerce? Is it ignorance? By taking a dip can one wash his/her sins? What must be Guru Nanak thinking of us in his heavenly abode?
