Summer of 2014 in Punjab
After rolling out orders of CM to catch drug dealers in Punjab and partly transferring the powers back to Police a wave of police action was seen and all the politicians their cronies and relation could do nothing but wait till things cool down.A crackdown on low rung dealers only enraged many people in Punjab and everyone cried for action against mighty and powerful. A malfunctioning of democracy that came into existence after Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in India where power was transferred into the hands of politicians and they could interfere in police functioning and judiciary was never corrected.Though under duress the CM gave powers back to police to take action against all erring politicians and officials.I only hope Narendra Modi follows this trend and all over India the police can work with dignity and without the political interference. There is likelihood that police would feel less frustrated and its handling will become just and according to prescribed book of law.
