Summer of 2014 in Punjab
The month of June not only starts getting hotter with furious winds that bring loads of fine dust inside homes even when doors and windows are closed but it brings the bitter memories for Sikhs and majority of them master them with élan. The shahidi Gurpurab of Guru Arjun Devji is celebrated by distributing sharbat on roads almost throughout the month of June. This way they remind the greatest ever martyrdom of fifth Master to future generations.June also brings the bitter memories of operation blue star and genocide of innocent Sikh pilgrims at Golden Temple in Amritsar by Indian Army. This year being the 30th anniversary an appeal to the world community was marred by the anti- Sikh doctrine people at a ceremony held to commemorate the martyrs at Golden Temple. This shameful act was to push their own selfish agenda. What pained most was the sanctity of Golden Temple was disturbed shamelessly.
