Sukhmani Sahib   - 15

Useless are those ears that like to hear slander of others. Useless are those hand that steal the wealth of others. Useless are those eyes that are cast on somebody’s wife. Useless is that tongue that wants to taste and savour dainties more than food. Worthless are those feet that run to do evil to others. False is that mind that wants to grab others wealth. Worthless is that body that does not do any good to others. False is that nose that smells the evil. Without understanding the Lord everything becomes false (Only if your understand His Will you will be able to understand the limits of want, greed and falsehood).  Fruitful is the body O Nanak that meditates on His Name (pad 5).

Worthless is the life of a man who has broken away from the truth of God’s Existence (because he is running after wealth). Without Truth he cannot be pure. Worthless is the body of an ignorant without His Name. He even starts smelling foul from his mouth. The day and night just passes away like a crop wither without water. Without contemplation of the Universal Lord’s Name all the activity becomes useless same as the money of a miser is useless. Blessed are those in whose heart Lord abides. Nanak is ever ready to offer sacrifice for such devoted people (pad 6).

 The duality of a person when he says something and does something else shows, that he has no love in his heart because he talks tall. But the Lord, who is wise to know what is going on in the mind of a person, is not pleased with the outward garb of any. The one who does not practice what he preaches will be subject to birth and death (cycle of rebirth). He in whose heart Formless God has taken abode becomes respectable and people listen to his instructions. O Lord only those who know Your Will become pleasing to You. Nanak bows at the feet of these people (pad 7).

Pray that Supreme Being who knows everything. He Himself honours His Creation, He decides about them and some he keeps at distance and others He brings closer to Him. He is beyond all efforts and cleverness. He fully knows the ways of human soul. He attaches only those to hold His garment that He likes. The Lord is all Pervading is everywhere in place and inter spaces. He, whom he shows His Benevolence, becomes His slave, O Nanak meditates on His Name every moment that you have (pad 8).
