Gems of Gurbani
Guru Granth Sahib
Sukhmani Sahib  -  17
Remember That Lord all eight hours of the day by Whose Grace you have become able to donate plenty. Your every breath should be reciting His Name because of whom you have attained a character to become religious and perform all worldly duties. Remember that Splendid Lord by whose Grace you have a handsome persona. You should recite His Name day and night because He has given you a higher status. O Nanak utters His praises, who has saved your reputation and preserved your honour (pad 5).
By whose Grace you ears are hearing melodies, you are watching wonders, your tongue speaks sweet words, your living has become comfortable, your hands are able to work and you become completely flourished. By whose Grace you have obtained supreme rank and have merged into bliss. Why do you want to abandon such a Lord and search for another? Awaken your mind to your Lord by Guru’s grace O Nanak (pad 6).
You have become distinguished person the world over and have obtained prestige and power by His Grace forget not ever, even in mind O foolish man that you have to meditate on His Name. By whose Grace you have accomplished all works deem Him to be in your heart always. By whose kindness you have learned the truth, O my soul get merged into Him. O Nanak continuously utter His Name whose kindness saves everyone (pad 7).
He, whom God Himself causes to repeat His Name, he alone sings His praises. Then By His Grace the enlightenment comes, by His kindness the heart blooms like a lotus flower. When the Lord is happy, He dwells in your mind and your intellect becomes sublime. All the treasures are Thine mercy O Lord.  Nobody gets anything done on their own. You only assign the duties to the creatures and they do it. O Nanak, they have no prowess without thee (pad 8).
