The Rakhi of a Sikh Girl
Inspired by a Katha wachak of Manji Sahib Gurdwara
By upgrading the status of a woman and giving her equality, honour and independence Guru Nanak has put a woman on that pedestal of society that she no more requires protection from a brother or father. After coming into this world she should be taught that the only protector of her is the Almighty Lord. Rakhi day should be celebrated as brothers day by praying to that Almighty that her brother should be graced with that strength that he respects all women in the world, that he protects a woman in distress any time anywhere, that he makes no discrimination between her and others’ sisters, that he should always respect his mother and wife, that he becomes a person with highest virtues, that he will never emotionally black mail his sister to usurp her part of the property, that he will protect a girl child and let her come to this world and enjoy the beauties of the world.

O God let this world have such a beautiful tribe of brothers!
