Shlok First Guru

Born from sins man keeps committing sins and falls deeper in sins, even hundreds of washings do not wash away these sins, only if the Master pardons these sin get washed away says Nanak, otherwise there is only beatings by shoes for the sins II 1 II

First Guru

Nanak says; asking for happiness by removing pain from life is in vain. Both happiness and pain are given to mortals from His Court. They are like two garments given to the mortals. It is better to keep mum then asking only for happiness II 2 II

Pauri

I searched in all directions and then I search my inner self and lo I found the invisible True Lord, the Creator.

I was straying in the wilderness but The Guru has shown me the way.

I hail the wonderful Lord by whose grace I remember the True Lord.

Guru has lighted the lamp (Shown me the light) that shows me the emerald (God) within my heart.

By praising the True Lord a true person remains in peace.

The ones who attach no fear of the Lord are destroyed by the self conceit.

Having forgotten the Lord the world roams around like a demon II 24 II
