Not only a revolutionary
Today on Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary I would like to share a few words with all my friends. Bhagat Singh’s inspirational life of a National Hero was so short lived that we are devoid of his guidance that the youngster could get if he lived a little longer. In my last visit to Amritsar I stumbled upon a book that contained notes that Bhagat Singh made after reading books by famous authors, political articles and magazines during his jail term in Lahore jail. When he left home to learn work of publishing in Kanpur and learnt a lot from Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi who was not only a fierce type of journalist but a great patriot. Bhagat Singh also learnt that the revolution is nothing like a romantic journey in one’s life but one has to make a mature outlook on revolutionary ideas. For that one needs to know the life of several revolutionary activists, their thinking pattern and their dedication to achieve their goals. With this in mind he searched all the libraries in Lahore and gave direction to develop his own path of revolutionary thinking and what was necessary to bring change. He spent much of his time reading books and his pockets use to be full of notes that he made every day. Before he started organizing students and other youngsters to fight for freedom of India he had consolidated his own political thinking and brought maturity in his design to fight for the freedom of India. He was hanged at the young age of 23 but his short life was so inspiring that even today he is an idol for many youngsters. This all was possible because by self learning from books had made him mature to understand his goals.

Salute to this great revolutionary on his birth anniversary.
