Guru Granth Sahib 15

Bara maha Guru Arjun Devji:

 Sawan sarsi kaamini charan kamal siyo piyar II man tan ratta sachhuh range ikko naam adhar II

In the month of sawan happy is that bride who has taken refuse at the Lotus feet of the Lord. Her body and mind get drenched with the colour of the Omnipotent True Lord and she feels His name is the only support she has.

Bhikhiya rang kudaviya disan sabhuh chhaar II har amrit boond suhavani mil sadhu pivanhaar II van tinuh prabh sang mauliya samarath purukh apaar II

The sinful pleasures are false and all that is apparent will turn to ashes. Every drop of His Love is like nectar that one quaffs in the company of the saints. The forests and meadows are refreshed with the love of the Omnipotent, all pervading and Infinite Lord.

Har milne nu man lochda karam milavan haar II jinni sakhiye prabh paiya houn tin ke saduh balihaar II

My heart yearns to meet Him and if His Grace be bestowed I shall meet Him. I bow to all those friends who have obtained Him unto them.

Sawan tina suhagani jin ram naam ur haar.

The month of sawan is delightful to those happy wives who are bedecked with the garland of Name of all pervading God.

Bhadui bharam bhulaniya duje lagga hatuh II lakh sigar banaiya karaj nahin ketuh II

In the month of bhadon she who cherishes love for another is lost in doubt. All her lakhs of decorations to beautify her are futile.

Se bhadui narak naa paiye guru rakhan wala hetuh II

In the month of bhadon those who enshrine love for the Guru the savior will not be consigned to the hell.

Asun prem umahada kiyon miliye har jai II man tan piyas darsan ghani koi aan milave mai II

In the month of assu the love for Him is overflowing from within me. How shall go and meet Him? There is great thirst in my body and mind for His sight O mother. Ask someone to come and enable me His sight.

Sant sahai prem ke hao tin ke lagga pai II

The saints will be my helpers in my search of love for Him (The Almighty).

Assu sukhi vasandiya jina maiya har rai II      

In the month of assu those who obtain the grace of Lord the King dwell in peace.
