Gems of Gurbani
Guru Granth Sahib  25
The glory of Japuji Sahib:
In japuji Sahib Guru Nanak has asked questions like; How is Truth to be obtained? And how the falsehood or Kur (ignorance and darkness) can be vanished? He answers these questions himself by explaining and bringing us closer to the Truth that there is only Ond God and His Greatness, His Creation cannot be measured by human beings and once we know this Truth Guru Nanak makes us aware that He has also created His Will that works like an unwritten law for the whole of Universe that moves under His Command. In the final shloka Guruji remind us that:
Pawan Guru pani pita mata dharat mahat II diavas raat dui dai daiya khele sagal jagat II changyaiya buryaiya vache dharma hadoor II karmi appo apni ken ere ke dur II jinni naam dhiyaya gaye muskat ghaal II Nanak ke mukh ujjale keti chhutti naal II
Air is Guru, water is father and earth is great mother, the day and night are like matrons in whose lap the whole world plays (our immediate atmosphere is created with air or oxygen and the water element the combining of these both elements makes earth fertile and livable and sun revolve around it creating day and night and day and night on their basis the whole world comes to life and that is the great play created by the Almighty). In this whole play the merits and demerits of a person will be measured according to his deeds. With their actions some may come closer to the Almighty and some may go farther. Those who meditate on His Name may get a chance to be in His divine presence. After receiving His Grace their faces will brighten and all those who keep the company of such enlightened souls may benefit of His Grace.
The answer Guru Nanak has given in Japuji Sahib is so simple, he first guides us to acquire the knowledge and learn the truth about His Presence and then meditate on His Name to remove all malice from your being and purge all the animosity from within you and become ego free. Once humbled, getting His audience is not difficult and His Grace (Nadar) is bestowed upon you.

Human nature is very forgetful and distractive so reading this Bani is like an alarm clock in the ambrosial hours of the morning that reminds us that we have to now wake up and carry on our duties of the day.
